Let's meet, make new friends and learn some new tunes!
Leeds Folk Meetup is a fortnightly workshop, informal folk learning session for violinists or other musicians on any instruments. We learn a new tune every session - slowly - and then gradually speed it up.
All musicians welcome - no previous experience with folk music necessary.
Wednesdays:
Beginners 7-8pm
Intermediate 8-9pm
Advanced players (please contact Iveta on 07547 112171 for joining Leeds Folk Fiddle Group)
All instruments welcome, music can be learnt by ear or sheet music in treble clef & chords provided.
NB: This Meetup is for musicians only (i.e. you need to be able to play your instrument on a beginners level (cca grade 1-2), intermediate (cca grade 3-5) or advanced level (cca above grade 6). Not suitable for complete beginners (non-musicians) who never played before. If you consider yourself to be a complete beginner and need some help getting music lessons to get you started we will be happy to help you find a suitable class/lessons/teacher for you. Please message us if interested. If you are interested in violin lessons contact Leeds Violin School.
Meet in the reception area of Woodhouse Community Centre
Class taught by Leeds violin teacher and folk musician Iveta Hlavenkova
Fee £4 per session, £6 if you attend both sessions (beginners & intermediate), pay at the door
